Minnesota is by no means short on beautiful places for camping. We have some of the most stunning natural beauty in the country and offer a plethora of places for nature and camping enthusiasts to enjoy. In fact, Minnesota is home to 58 different State Forests! Most of these offer scenic camp spots and tend to be less crowded than the State Parks.

Most of the Stat Forest camp spots are also more primitive. Offering non-electrical campsites and a more natural surrounding. These are perfect for getting back in touch with nature!

State Parks on the other hand tend to offer a somewhat more “modern” take on camping, with electrical hookups and a few more amenities,.

This stunning camping location is but a stone’s throw from the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.  With miles of shoreline to explore, picturesque swimming locations, fishing holes, and trails to hit, you won’t have a shortage of things to do while camping here.

The campground features 73 sites total, 45 of them with electricity, showers and restrooms, as well as boat accessibility, cabins, and a rustic group camping site.

Located in the Kabetogama State Forest, this is a pristine campsite offering a primitive and picturesque surrounding, perfect for the true nature lover. With 61 non-electrical sites, you will be able to fully enjoy an immersive natural experience.

Offering on a first-come first-served basis, Woodenfrog boasts  being one of the few drive-in campgrounds offering access to the water-fed  Voyagers National Park. So paddle, drive, or hike by for a stunning campground worthy of being one  of the top five in the state.

This natural beauty offers something for everyone. Camping, swimming, fishing and boating are just a few things you can do at this State Park. Nestled in Western Minnesota among the prairie, hardwood forest and four lakes, this is a favorite for campers of all ages.

Featuring 22 cart-in campsite, four cabins, and a shower house in the main portion of the campground, as well as two yurts located in the State park. Glendalough is one of only three other parks in the state to offer these yurt accommodations.

They also have a restaurant and lounge for those who want a more relaxed luxury experience!

Offering some spectacular views of the Lake Superior and the Split Rock Lighthouse, this North Shore park offers 20 cart in sites ( two are wheelchair accessible). You can enjoy the scenic views, use the restrooms and showers provided by the park, all while getting back in touch with nature.

Campers can hike up to the lighthouse ( which offers tours as well), or take a stroll along the lake’s rocky shore. The scenery and stunning lighthouse makes this one of the best campsites in Minnesota!
