When researching purchasing a Dump trailer, there are a few things that you as the consumer would keep in mind. You want to ensure that you are getting the proper fit for your personal needs and asking the appropriate questions that will make certain you are making the best purchase possible.
Not all dump trailers are made alike, though they all appear to be well built trailers that can hold up to any job, there are some special features that you should look for when making your purchase.
The Battery Charger: The battery is the life of your Dump trailer. Typically, the battery will charge while you are towing if the charge line on the truck is well maintained. One thing to be aware of is that there are two different varieties of charges for Dump Trailer: An AC charger and a Solar charger. Each has their own pros and cons, so this is a personal decision as to which you would prefer. A solar charger will constantly charge whenever there is sun, and the AC charger is convenient to plug in whenever needed to a regular wall outlet.
The Front Jack: When browsing Dump trailers for sale, make sure you are placing importance on the front jack. You want to make sure the jack used in the dump trailer you are purchasing is highly rated, because one that is not the proper rating can hinder the trailer’s capabilities immensely.
The Wiring Harness: Did you know that there are special wiring harnesses made for trailers? Dump Trailers will perform best when using an OEM wiring harness as it has very little crimp connections, leaving less room for electrical malfunction.
The Hydraulics: The Hydraulics are the backbone of the Dump Trailer. Dump Trailers will either have a scissor lift or a single ram. The scissor lift will be stronger than the single ram, but don’t count the single ram out. It can handle its fair share of weight and is a more popular option typically due to pricing.
